Employment Opportunities

The Children's Center has the following positions opening available.

Head Start Home Based Program Coordinator
General responsibilities include management of the Head Start Home Based program option which provides comprehensive services to families with preschool age children (i.e. early childhood education, health, nutrition, mental health, and family services). Oversee implementation of program requirements through monitoring, supervision of Home Based staff and participation in regular supervisory meetings. 

  • BA/S degree in ECE, Human Services or a related field. 
  • Computer skills (required)
  • Head Start experience (preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English (preferred)
  • Experience in supervising and managing similar types of services.

Part-Time Head Start Teacher
Responsibilities include providing quality education opportunities for preschool aged children and for the day to day management of the classroom. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing lesson plans for daily learning activities, maintaining individual and classroom data for on-going assessment, evaluation and record keeping. Teachers will collaborate with Family Service staff and the Head Start Director in an effort to engage and involve the parents in the program.

  • BA in ECE or related field with equivalent of a major in ECE (preferred)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
  • Computer skills (required)
  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD (a plus)

Family Service Specialist
This position serves as the primary contact for Head Start parents to ensure that the needs of young children and families are addressed in the area of family and community engagement.

Responsibilities include recruiting eligible families for enrollment in the Head Start program. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with families in determining goals, assessing their strengths and needs as well as providing support services to promote healthy families and program success for children. Candidate must be able to accurately maintain family records and complete reports as required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Human Services or related field (preferred) 
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish (preferred) 
  • Computer skills (required) 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • Ability to monitor and/or supervise the work of others
