September Book of the Month: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault
illustrated by Lois Ehlert

If your looking for a preschool alphabet book look no further than “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”.  This book is all about adventurous lower case letters making their way up a coconut tree.  Will there be enough room for a-z?  Will they have to be rescued by the upper case loved ones?   The catchy verse will have you singing the story long after you put the book down.  These mischievous letters are illustrated in vibrant colors that appeal to toddler and preschoolers alike.

This story is a great way to help children learn the order of the 26 lettered alphabet and introduce the difference between upper and lower case letters.  Older kiddies can help read along as the story is filled with simple text that is perfect for early readers.

Make these simple palm tree prints by painting your little ones hand green and arm brown with tempera or washable paints.  Then press a print onto white construction paper.  Finally, have him/her glue alphabet stickers or alphabet noodles to the tree.
